Antigua Hostels: Kafka
Once among the most atmospheric hostels in Antigua, Hostel Kafka has gone downhill recently and is no longer recommended for lodging. The bar and restaurant have seen a similar decline in many ways, making this two-story hostel with a long rooftop terrace and a sterling volcano view less than attractive. Better accommodations are found at El Hostal, Jungle Party or the new Black Cat Hotel on 5th Street near Parque Central.
Two lounges, one overlooking the bar, and hammocks in the downstairs garden, provide opportunity to kick back and relax.

For Q50 you can stay in one of the dorms in front or back of the building. The private room costs Q120 for two people.
Kafka’s Kitchen
The menu ranges from omelets and a big breakfast, to fish and chips. Other selections include BBQ ribs and pasta.
When not drinking, eating or lazing about in a hammock, you can watch movies at 2 PM. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

A half-block south of La Merced on 4th Avenue, Kafka is away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of town. But it’s just a step or two from Central Park, the Arch and other scenic sights and places to dine, drink, shop and party, most of which offer far more in variety and quality.
